E-disinfection (electronic disinfection) refers to a disinfection process in which no chemicals are used, and therefore no harmful vapors or radiation remain in the environment after its completion. The elimination of bacteria, viruses and fungi is ensured by ultraviolet light type C, ultrasound or a combination of both. Type C ultraviolet radiation, UV-C for short, has proven to eliminate microorganisms, algae and viruses. It can damage their genetic materials DNA, RNA and proteins, thereby preventing their further reproduction. UV-C has been used for over 100 years to disinfect air, water and surfaces in areas with increased hygiene requirements, such as hospitals. Ultraviolet radiation is made up of electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength from 100 to 400 nm — that's less than light visible to the human eye, but more than soft X-rays. Individual types of UV radiation then differ in a specific wavelength range. UV-C radiation uses the range 100-280 nm, type UV-B then 280-315 nm and UV-A 315-400 nm. Our products use a wavelength of approximately 253.7 nm for e-disinfection, because it results in the maximum possible absorption of DNA.
Ultrasound in the ROCKUBOT PRO/LITE device affects mites in several ways. It slows down their normal development, disrupts the development of eggs and limits their ability to take in food. According to some scientific studies, it also neutralizes dust mite droppings to some extent, which is the most serious mite problem for allergy sufferers. Unlike UV-C radiation, ultrasound operating at a frequency of 30-50 kHz can penetrate permeable materials, thanks to which it can deeply disinfect carpets, mattresses or, for example, seating furniture.
Yes. UV-C radiation has a harmful effect on all microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, molds (fungi), or mites. They are all organisms invisible to the naked eye, and therefore in this sense we can perceive the skin, or any part of a living organism, as an area full of microorganisms - cells. UV-C radiation is just as harmful as conventional chemical disinfection on living tissue. Therefore, it is important not to look into the source of radiation, nor to stay in the places of its action. The advantage of UV-C radiation lies precisely in the fact that you do not have to be present during the disinfection cycle, which is the exact opposite of applying classic chemical disinfection.
Yes. Plants are also living organisms and direct UV-C radiation can damage them on the surface in the same way as human skin or microorganisms. With smaller open emitters, such as the ROCKUBOT MINI S, a safe distance for plants from the source is 3 meters. Interesting: Some scientific studies dealt with experiments in which various plants were exposed to short intervals of UV-C radiation, while long-term observation showed that such a "cure" can increase the resistance of plants against common diseases. This fact is mentioned only for interest and we certainly do not recommend using our products for lighting plants.
ROCKUBOT appliances have been developed with maximum attention to safety during use. ROCKUBOT PRO and LITE have 24 sensors, thanks to which they are independent and do not require your interaction in automatic mode - except for switching on. In manual mode, you just have to be careful not to shine on any living objects. ROCKUBOT MINI S has a built-in pyroelectric sensor that recognizes people and animals at a distance of two meters. As soon as it detects their approach, it stops the disinfection process, so it does not expose them in any harmful radiation. The sensor is visible on the body of the device, and when using it, we recommend turning it in the direction from which people or animals could approach.
Unfortunately, it can. It can work with most mattresses even if they are slightly slouched, but it is necessary that they have clear corners and edges. With some bed models, where the mattress is recessed and there is a wooden frame around it, for example, the height of the mattress from the frame may not be sufficient for ROCKUBOT to evaluate it as the edge of the mattress and it may fall. However, there is no need to lose hope with this type of bed. It is possible to put a barrier around the mattress (cardboard, thicker paper, or plywood) and run ROCKUBOT in automatic mode B, where obstacle avoidance is turned on and you can continue to use e-Disinfection safely. We also recommend this method for sofas and carpets. You can find the procedure for turning on automatic mode B in the attached manual.
Do not under any circumstances look into the UV-C light source! Just like you don't put chemical disinfectant in your eyes, don't shine UV-C light into them. It can cause retinal damage and conjunctivitis. A burn may occur on the skin. With prolonged direct radiation, the consequences can be irreversible. Therefore, do not look into the radiation source at any cost and follow the simple safety instructions that you will find in the manual. If your eyes are exposed to UV-C radiation and you notice tearing or vision deterioration, seek medical help immediately.
When using classic liquid chemical disinfection, volatile substances escape into the air, which must be properly ventilated. By ventilating, however, we only release them into the atmosphere, thus contributing to its further infestation. When disinfecting with UV-C light, no such harmful residues escape into the air, and after switching off, the disinfection stops working immediately. Moreover, in the long run, using e-disinfection is more economically advantageous, because you do not have to buy additional disinfectant chemicals.
The power of UV-C light decreases very quickly with increasing distance from the source of radiation. Large germicidal emitters, which are used to disinfect hospitals and other large spaces that require absolute sterility, literally "radiate" all the microorganisms in the room. However, this is not suitable for households. A certain amount of microorganisms is important for maintaining natural human immunity. Therefore, lower power is an ideal compromise in this case. The UV-C radiation used in ROCKUBOT devices can therefore perfectly disinfect all surfaces and objects, but it maintains a certain healthy level of microorganisms in the premises, and your natural immunity can thus continue to be in good condition.
ROCKUBOT MINI S can disinfect for 60 minutes on one full charge. This will allow, for example, to disinfect a smaller room three times, a large closet or pantry six times, or small spaces twelve times, such as the drum of a washing machine. When the battery is discharged, the cycle may start but stop after a few seconds, which you may not notice, so we recommend keeping the battery charged at all times. ROCKUBOT PRO and LITE can work for up to 180 minutes on one full charge, which is enough, for example, to deep treat up to four mattresses with dimensions of 180 x 200 cm. In addition to e-disinfection, the battery is also drained by using the power bank or bluetooth speaker function.
The UV-C lamps in our products have a declared lifespan of up to 8,000 hours and are not covered by the standard two-year warranty. A spare UV-C lamp is not an expensive item, and if necessary, we are happy to replace it for you at ROCKUBOT equipment.
We believe that e-Disinfection will be able to replace a significant part of classic chemical disinfection in the near future. With small open emitters like the ROCKUBOT MINI S, the use is really flexible. From the quick disinfection of smaller objects, which can be done in a few seconds, to the perfect disinfection of smaller spaces, such as toilets, bathrooms, kitchen units, bathtubs... Just use a degreasing cleaning agent and leave the disinfection under UV-C light. ROCKUBOT PRO and LITE can independently disinfect flat surfaces, and thanks to the combination with ultrasound, they are ideal for long-term and gentle treatment of mattresses, carpets, or sofas...
No. With many UV-C appliances, a certain amount of ozone is produced, either as a by-product or intentionally. Ozone, like UV-C radiation, disrupts the structure of microorganisms, but after disinfection with such a combination, it is necessary to properly ventilate the space, or wait at least 30 minutes until it safely decomposes into harmless oxygen. In the winter months, this can be a problem, whether you want to disinfect the interior of a car, apartment, or other space from which heat escapes during ventilation. If you do not ventilate the area treated in this way, or wait until the ozone decomposes, you risk headaches, sore throats, and irritation in the eyes and nose. ROCKUBOT brand products do not produce any ozone in addition to UV-C radiation, so the spaces where they are used can be used immediately and without unpleasant consequences.
